To stay up-to-date on the data being submitted to Curator you can subscribe multiple users to receive email notifications immediately after a form has been submitted. These emails will also contain the data from the form that has been submitted, allowing you to instantly review anything that comes in: whether it’s a Contact Us form, a Feedback form, or tracking your users favorite pizza, you’ll know right away! NOTE: Email configuration on Curator is required to use this email notification system. If you have not configured email on your Curator instance, please get in touch with your email administrator and use these instructions to set up email.

Enabling Data Manager Email Notifications

  1. Login to the backend of your Curator instance (e.g. https://www.curatorexample.com/backend ).
  2. Navigate to the Data Manager > Data Groups section from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click on the Group you would like to add an email to.
  4. Toggle ON the switch labelled “Email submissions”
  5. This will display a repeater that you can add individual emails to. Populate them one-at-a time.
  6. Click the “Save” button.
NOTE: If the Data Group has “Send to Webhook” enabled with a webhook selected, new submissions go to that webhook and are not saved to Curator. No notification email is sent. See Sending Data to Webhooks for details on that option.

Enabling Front-End User Notifications

The notifications above are written for administrators: the link in the email opens the submission in the Curator backend, which only backend users can access. If the people reviewing submissions are front-end users — for example, your users submit and review data entirely through a form on one of your Curator pages — you can additionally notify a list of front-end recipients. They receive the same submission details, but their email links to a front-end page of your choosing instead of the backend, and includes an unsubscribe link so they can opt out on their own.

  2. Navigate to the Data Manager > Data Groups section from the left-hand menu.

  5. This will display a repeater that you can add individual emails to. Populate them one-at-a time.
  6. Set the “Front-end page URL” field to the page where the group’s submissions can be viewed — usually the page containing the group’s form. This field is required: the Group cannot be saved with front-end emails enabled until a valid http:// or https:// URL is provided, since it becomes the link in every front-end notification email. Addresses in the repeater are stored lowercased and without duplicates.
  7. Click the “Save” button.
Both notification types are independent: a Group can email administrators, front-end users, or both at once.

Unsubscribing

Every front-end notification email ends with an unsubscribe link. It opens a confirmation page on your Curator site (no login required), and confirming removes the address from the Group’s front-end recipient list and sends that address a confirmation email. Administrators stay in control of the list: re-adding the address on the Group’s settings page will resubscribe it at any time. NOTE: The webhook behavior described above applies to front-end notifications as well — when submissions are sent to a webhook instead of Curator, no notification email of either type is sent.
